Peter Lynn Kites

Peter Lynn's giant "show" kites from New Zealand are great fun to fly and have incredible crowd appeal. How big are they?? A large Gecko covers one-third the length of a football field and even a mid-sized Fugu has a larger cubic volume than the average bedroom.

Sure, they cost a little bit more than your average kite, but...

David and Susan with PL Show

Gomberg Kite Productions is delighted to be representing Peter's whimsical creations. Most designs have undergone extensive refinements over the past year to improve wind range, flight angle, and durability. Peter's "super ripstop" engineering, and bucket tail attachments allow you to handle even the largest designs with surprising ease.

Join kiting's elite. Add a really big bag of fun to your collection.

Giant Crab
Giant Crab:

New for 2007! The Crab is the latest design from Peter Lynn Ltd. It offers a huge, compact mass as opposed to other inflatables with long tails. A complex and detailed bridling system adds to the satisfaction of presenting this amazing flying creation on your beach or field.

Lift is generated with the large claws that inflate through vents and are sealed off from the main body. The shell and feelers are filled though a mesh panel in the front and deflate with a zipper in the back.

Large (40 feet tall): NewZealand$6400 (made by PL Ltd)
Medium (20 feet tall): NewZealand$3000 (made by PL Ltd)

Flying Fish: The Flying Fish came out in late Fall, 2004. It is a true inflatable in the standard giant size configuration. Click here to see some color variations

Big Fish

Body length is about 40 feet with extended fin tubes adding another 30 feet to the overall impression. Each piece comes complete with a fish drogue for flight stability.

Launching works better with a pilot, but I find the Fish performs well without one. And with the largest intake opening of any PL inflatable, it fills and deflates very quickly and in relatively light winds.

One interesting aspect of the Fish is you get a choice of mouth designs. Do you prefer the hungry carnivore look of the teeth covering the opening, or the botox look of swollen sucker lips?? You pay -- you choose! Buy a kite in your choice of colors and we'll make it either way. (Note: This option only availa on New Zealand made kites.)

Giant Octopus

Octopus: Inflatable Octopi are Peter Lynn's long-term best selling single-line kites. Soft equals safe with realistic form and movement. New design refinements (but same popular shape) means they now fly in lighter and stronger winds and at a higher angle with no drogues required. Split the bridle lines for extra stability and low-altitude flying. Ask us how!

Redesigned for much improved wind range and ease of flying. This is Peter's largest kite. And as you can see whenever you log onto our site, it is one of our favorites.

Kitty Cat: She is 40 feet tall and guaranteed to scare the heck out of any mouse in the neighborhood. And we promise your new Kitty will be the biggest hit on your flying field too.

It's cute - as realistic in form and movement as any kite we have ever made- and the people at the Washington State International Kite Festival thought so too, voting it number one.

Yes we can make in special colours but NO we will not be attempting Tabbies, Tigers, Leopards, or Maine Coons. Long Hair's? Never!

The inflatable Cat is a great flier, but you will need to use a pilot kite for stability and light-wind lift.

Dog Days

Flying Dog We've got a new puppy in the garage.

He is big and happy with long flappy ears, a drooling tongue, and a long wagging tail. The Dog inflates through vents above the eyes and includes a delation zipper in the back. Use a Pilot kite to lift him just off the ground for a great show!

Fugu: They're huge! This is a Bernoulli device - not a kite. When tethered on 100 feet of line, the blow fish will rhythmically bounce, rising six to ten feet in the air and then descending to touch the ground and repeat the cycle. More than 1500 brightly colored ripstop panels make an incredible impact. Especially aimed at entertaining children. Check out the mid-sized model for maximum impact for minimum dollars.

Large (23 feet): NewZealand$5350 (made by PL Ltd)
Medium (13 feet): NewZealand$4100 (made by PL Ltd)

Squid: Here is another giant swimming performer from New Zealand. Flared fins create a stable lifting platform, while the long shapley body fills the sky. Eight flowing tentacles maintain stability and increase the overall sky-impact.

Can't make up your mind between a Giant Ray, Trilobite, or Octopus. Maybe the Squid is for you. It incorporates design elements from each and actually is larger then any of these other Peter Lynn models. The Giant Squid measures a full 90 feet and sells for $4200. It is made exclusively for GKPI by Peter Lynn. Let us know what you think—and how many you would like....

Universally popular for it's friendly face and cuddly appearance, each kite includes a big "Honey Pot" drogue. Can be made with 'Tshirt design' so you can have your own advertising or club graphics. (Graphics extra - ask for quote).

Caterpillar: Now the first thing you notice about this ground bouncer is the size of it. It is big. I mean REALLY BIG! Think of a school bus parked inside. It stretches 60 feet long and 15 feet tall. The other thing you quickly discover is that she is designed with nothing for children to grab hold of. If you fly big kites, you know this is significant.

Flag, Pillow, or Billboard Foil: We're still debating what to call this innovative Peter Lynn design. They are referred to as Pillows, Flags, or Billboards. And any of those names will work. The kite is shaped like a big, soft pillow. It works well dimensionally as a flag. And with no keels and a large, un-interrupted canvass, it is perfect for graphics, advertising, or commercial "billboard" images.

Giant Flag Giant Flag Giant Flag

This remarkable new kite design was patented in 2003. With one large chamber, it inflates quickly and holds its shape well. The Flag has no keels and is supported internally by through-cords rather than cells. And for a kite of this size, it flies remarkably well.

Prices will of course depend on the complexity of your art work. Generally the 4 meter billboard is about US$2000 and the 8 meter around US$4000. That could go up or down depending on what you are looking for.

Billboards, Pillows, or Flags are great for clubs, store displays, traveling exhibitions, or just waving the Stars and Stripes. Shoot us a copy of your art and we'll provide a quote.

Flying Dolphin

Custom Designs: A substantial part of the Peter Lynn business is making original designs to order - often for advertising purposes. With more than 20 years experience in this specialized field, Peter has made a huge variety of strange and wonderful shapes in framed, soft, or combination styles. They can quickly appraise whether an idea you have is practical, perhaps offer alternative suggestions, and give a "ball park" estimate which will be followed with a formal quote.

Let us know what you have in mind.

Please Note: Special care is required when flying large and heavy pulling kites or ground devices.

Such care includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Be sure your flying area is clear of people and obstructions.
  • Be sure you are properly anchored.
  • Be sure your flying line is sufficient for the load it is carrying.
  • Be sure you have the ability to retreive your kite after it is launched.

Large kites can be dangerous: When you fly them, you accept responsibility for any accidents that may result. GKPI assumes no liability for injury or damage.
